SCAMP is a research study looking at whether using a mobile phone or other similar devices (e.g. tablets and laptops) might affect how adolescent’s (young people) thinking abilities develop between the ages of 11 to 14.

Your school has agreed to help the SCAMP research team. This means pupils in Year 7 will do an assessment (a quiz or test) on computers in lesson time (you may have already done this in school). The assessment will involve tasks (some will be like puzzles, others will require you to remember certain things) and questions. Your teachers and parents will not see the answers you give. The assessment will be done again when you are in Year 9.

If you would like to help the SCAMP study more you can answer extra questions about yourself in our online questionnaire. It is up to you if you want to answer these questions on your own, or with your parents. You do not have to answer these questions if you do not want to.

There is also a questionnaire for your parents. If your parent completes the SCAMP registration and online parent questionnaire (20-30 minutes) your household will be sent a £30 Gift Certificate*.

Please read the SCAMP Information Leaflet for Pupils if you have not already done so. If you have questions about the study, please ask your parents. You can also contact the SCAMP study team by emailing or calling 0800 007 5557.
